Delegates from agribusiness incubators and Enterprise Support Organizations in Africa visited Ireland in November 2022 to meet with key representatives from the Irish agri-food incubation ecosystem including state agencies, incubators, accelerators, social enterprises, educators, and investor networks.
The 27-member delegation from Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe visited some of Ireland’s flagship agri-food incubation initiatives such as Teagasc Ashtown, the BIA Innovator Campus, Athenry, and the Drumshanbo Food Hub. Programmes such as New Frontiers (Enterprise Ireland), Food Works (Bord Bia), AgInnovate (University of Galway) and the Africa Agri-food Development Programme (DAFM / Irish Aid) were also highlighted as part of the programme.
The visit was hosted by Sustainable Food Systems Ireland (SFSI), in partnership with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and African Union Commission (AUC).
