IFIAD hosted an Independent Food Systems Dialogue in Malawi, in partnership with the Malawi Irish Consortium on Gender Based Violence (MICGBV). The dialogue convened on 2nd July 2021 at Ufulu Garden Hotel in Lilongwe as part of the global preparations for the international UN Food Systems Summit to be held in September 2021.

The event brought together different stakeholders such as Government through representation from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies that are aligned to issues of food systems and gender equality, civil society organizations, farmer organizations, policy makers and women farmers as project participants. The aim of the dialogue was to devise solutions on rural women’s empowerment in food systems, how to bridge the gender technology gap in the sector and amplify women’s voices and decision making in food systems.
